Glen Dye Solstice Radio: Remote places, a day in the life

Thank you for agreeing to record “a day in the life” piece for us.

The idea behind this feature is to broadcast a series of short programmes that give our listeners and auditory experience of what it is like to live in a remote place.

We’d like to hear a bit more about you, your day to day life as well as some of the sounds of where you live.

This page is a guide to help you to record your audio and send it to us to broadcast.

What we’d like you to record
We’re interested in what a day-in-the-life is like in your remote place.  This doesn’t have to literally be a whole day but simply snippets of interesting, ordinary, strange, lovely things about where you live.

Begin by introducing yourself: your name, where you live and what you get up to (i.e. your job, hobbies, interests etc)

Narrate what you’re up to, where you’re going, who you’re seeing.   Some facts about where you live.  Things you like to do.  Things that are great about where you live.  Things that are difficult.  Try to get some ambient sounds: oceans, wind, trees, people, wildlife, traffic/machinery (etc).

Please record as much as you can that you would like to share.  We’re aiming for each day in the life feature to be no longer than approx 10-15 minutes so we will edit your content down to fit.

How to record
If you have recording equipment then great.  If not then you can use a smart phone to record using an app such as Voice Memo, Recorder, Audioshare (etc).

We’d recommend you try a test recording to work out the levels, how close to speak to your phone (etc).  After that, just record little snippets of your day. (Speech, sounds, speech with sounds in the background etc.)

We’re interested in hearing the sounds of your day but try to avoid recording spoken content in very noisy places.

How to send us your audio
Depending on your setup you may first have to download your audio to your computer in order to be able to send it or you may be able to send it direct from your app.

You can send us your audio using a number of different methods

• Direct from your app or via e-mail to stevexoh@gmail.com. (One file per e-mail)
• Use a large file sending service such as Wetransfer to send them to stevexoh@gmail.com
• Upload them direct to this Google Drive

Please let us know when you have sent it so we can look out for it.

If you have any questions then please do not hesitate to ask.

Thanks so much for being a part of Glen Dye Solstice Radio
